Garden Landscaping in Cambridge
Cambridge Landscaping was called to a client’s house in Cambridge to discuss his recent move to a wheelchair and the relevant access he would need for his property. He was in the process of converting the ground floor of his house for easier wheelchair access and had recently expanded the size of his doorways. He wanted a large timber decking outside his back door for him to relax, entertain guests and enjoy the view of his garden from. The decking needed suitable wheelchair access, so a double ramp was included in the plans. The client also decided that his front door needed a wheelchair ramp too for easy access.
Cambridge Landscaping prepared the area for the decking and laid a geo-textile membrane to prevent weed growth and constructed a solid timber subframe, including a subframe for the double access ramp that ran from the centre of the decking off to both the left and right side of the garden. We then laid the raised hardwood timber decking and double ramp over the subframe.
At the side of his property, for perfect wheelchair access to his front door, Cambridge Landscaping built a low, brickwork retaining wall and filled the area with Type 1 MOT granite hardcore into a slope. C45 concrete was then poured onto the sloped hardcore and screeded to a smooth surface.
