Bridged Block Paved Driveway
This client in St Neots had a large lawned front garden and wanted to convert it into a large driveway, so they called us, the most trusted landscaping company in Cambridge. However, there was a ditch running alongside the front garden separating it from the pavement.
After a design consultation, it was decided that a bridge would be constructed over the ditch to create seamless vehicular access from the road to the driveway. Cambridge Landscaping began by preparing the area to be converted into a driveway by taking up the existing lawn and flowerbeds and laying a layer of Type 1 MOT hardcore under a levelled layer of sharp sand. A retaining edge was installed along the side of the driveway above the ditch.
Members of Cambridge Landscaping’s paving team began laying the 250m² block paved driveway while another team constructed a sturdy bridge from a timber frame and poured concrete. Once the concrete was fully set, the block paving was continued seamlessly over the bridge to meet the pavement.
Cambridge Landscaping installed concrete fence posts with timber panel fencing along the side of the block paved driveway and installed contemporary cedar screening to conceal half of the driveway above the ditch.
